Spring is a season that we all love at Eden Flowers. The sunshine puts a bounce in our step, cheery brides start browsing for wedding flowers and the shop is filled with wraps of fabulous parrot tulips, scented paper white narcissi, vibrant anemones, and gorgeous ranunculus of soft pinks, whites, creams and golds.
It’s lovely to welcome in the Spring by filling your home with fresh flowers, and with all the blooms around it’s simple at this time of year to create a great splash of colour from a few simple blooms. 5 or 6 stems of hyacinth woodstock, a beautiful deep plummy cerise, in a simple jar or beaker gives both colour and scent.
For a great statement piece, try 20 or so stems of pussy willow or contorta willow, in a florist vase such as this lovely gooseberry coloured one from Garden Trading. Simply pop in with some guelder rose - a fabulous lime green, soft blousey shrub - which makes a simple but elegant arrangement.
Alternatively, hand tied bouquets of mixed spring flowers are simple to create and easy to arrange. Using a mix of anemones, tulips and ranunculus in one or two complementary colours, and a handful of foliage which can be collected from the garden, twist the stems together to form a bouquet. This sits perfectly in the small florist vase from the set mentioned above, and the gooseberry colour complements any colour scheme.
A fresh bouquet in a squat vase looks great as a table centrepiece too, and adds a touch of elegance to any occasion, why not try it for your Easter celebrations this year? Alternatively 20 or 30 parrot tulips on their own, just look perfect... Who said flower arranging had to be difficult?
