Exploring Innovative Materials

21 April 2017

At Garden Trading we’re always looking to introduce new products to our range, exploring exciting and innovative materials which allow us to design stunning new items that are extremely practical too.

This spring we have introduced a range of new materials to our Planter range in particular; including a stone-like Polyresin for our Longborough Planters - to create a gorgeous natural effect whilst allowing the planters to be extremely durable - and an All-weather Rattan for our new Harting Planters which have a lovely natural look and feel without danger of rot or leaking.

We’re particularly pleased with our stunning new Winstone Planters, which are crafted from Glassfibre Reinforced Cement. This unique material is suitable for all weathers and can endure temperatures as low as -20 degrees! Always keeping practicality at the forefront of our designs, the Glass Fibre Reinforced Cement has a lovely weight to it, whilst keeping it light enough for lifting and working with.

These contemporary planters have a Mediterranean feel, in part due to the deep orange pigment which adds a gorgeous pop of warm colour to any outdoor space. The rusted aesthetic and chunky ribbed design makes a real statement to any patio or front door, while the mottled finish and rough texture adds some special character to these planters.

With a drainage hole in the base of each pot you can plant directly into them or use an inner pot if you prefer. We had great fun picking out plants for our Winstone Planters, as the warm orange gives chance for a real pop of colour and drama. We’ve planted our Large planter with an Ornamental Quince tree which looks stunning with the warm colour of the planter. The Medium planter has a Scabious Butterfly Blue Beauty and the Small a Euphorbia Efanthia.
